I’ve really been slagging, eh? I completely forgot about this blog up until last week and I don’t know if it’s the winter weather that makes me want to write (and share) more or what but my fingers want to type something not related to work.
I was rereading my first post and it seems like a lifetime ago. It’s amazing how many things can happen within a span of twelve months. I figure a quick update is needed. Although I am still in a European household, I no longer live with my family. A friend from high school and I moved in together and are keeping our European lessons, foods and traditions alive…we can’t abandon them even if we tried.
I got promoted at the office shortly after posting my first post, woohoo! And am loving my job…still after over a year, who would’ve thunk it? After the first quarter of 2008, my coworker quit and I must say, I have never had so much work thrust upon me in my life. I’m finally (9 months later) able to take a few minutes out of my day to break and breathe.
I bit the bullet and chopped off a good 9 inches of hair. It was exhilarating and scary. I sat in my hair dressers chair for at least an hour, in this limbo type zone, not quite sure how this was going to look. Was it going to be the biggest mistake of my life? Or the trendiest thing I’ve done to date? Answer: Trendy! I think so anyways… so do the numerous females in the office who’ve copied my ‘do. And I can say this from experience now, Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. True story.
I took a few trips this year as well. My first vacation with my sometimes boyfriend, turned full-time boyfriend, to New York City. I hate going there only because, I hate to leave. It is one of the best cities I’ve visited and although it apparently is one of the loneliest cities in the world (1 in every 2 people lives on their own – according to an article I read on www.NYMag.com today), I don’t care! We went to Top of the Rock, toured some naval ships (as it was Fleet Week during our stay), shopped, ate delicious food, visited friends and family and coworkers, Central Park, museums, David Letterman…so, so much, I don’t even think I remember it all.
We also had the fortunate opportunity to stay at a gorgeous cabin in Newfoundland, right on the coast. It was peaceful yet exciting, relaxing but adventurous. Just imagine how amazing it is to be sitting on a deck reading a fantastic book, look up for a second only to see a whale pop up out of the ocean for air. One of the most amazing sights, ever.
That’s been a good chunk of the past year in a not so short post. Will be sure to get on the updating blog regularly wagon and think of something somewhat interesting to discuss.
